About Rwanda Gisuma
In the past farmers from the region used a mechanised station for processing coffee, was more than seven miles away. To avoid transportation costs many farmers processed the coffee at their homes, the process was labour intensive and generated low-quality coffee.
In 2009 Techno Serve worked with Gisuma’s farmers to band together and form cooperative. They helped the new business secure a lone and build a wet mill to process the farmers coffee.
The cooperative Produces 2 containers a year. They were awarded cup of excellent positions in 2013,2014,2015 status and become renowned for speciality coffees. Produce members have invested premiums back into the local infrastructure.
